How to measure you child for the correct sized arm sling

Ordering the correct size sling for your child is imperative. A sling that is too small will not provide the correct support.

No two children are exactly the same, some have long limbs or are tall for their age so please refer to the measurements given with each sling before you order.

Using a tape, measure from behind your childs elbow to the end of the baby finger. This is the width measurement.

The end of the sling should rest somewhere along the length of the baby finger. Some children like to have the use of their hand while it rests in the sling, other children are happy to leave the hand redundant while wearing the sling.

If this measurement is under 10.5" you need the 2-6 year size.

If the measurement is between 10.5" and 12" you need the 6-10 age size.

It is important to measure because a 6 year old child with a large or bulky cast, or a cast that extends past the elbow may need a much larger sling than a 6 year old child with a broken collar bone who has no cast.

Also please remember that the sling will be worn over your childs clothes and bear this in mind if school uniforms etc are worn daily.

Also be mindful of the depth of the sling. If the buckle rides too high on your child it will be uncomfortable to wear.

We can sometimes accommodate custom orders for slings that are bigger than the 6-10 size. This is subject to the preferred fabric being available and in stock. We do not make slings for children under 2 years of age due to the choking hazard involved.
